Koenig Body & Equipment, Inc

Koenig Body & Equipment, Inc. has nearly 35 years of experience in building trucks that push, pull, plow, haul, or carry.

Gene Koenig started working for Moline Body Co. in Moline, IL, under the ownership of Robert L. Shoecraft, in 1937. In 1950, Shoecraft sent Gene to Peoria, IL to open up a new branch location. The original Peoria store was an office, shop, and warehouse. His family quickly relocated to Peoria and his son, Phil, started working at this Moline Body location. Phil Koenig had been working alongside his father for years, so in 1981, he bought the Peoria store and renamed it Koenig Body & Equipment, Inc. In 1986, Phil also decided to buy the main body shop in Moline. At that time, a young gentleman named Phillip Force was working for Mr. Koenig. The two of them decided that Phillip Force should move to Moline and manage that branch of Koenig Body.

Phil Koenig had three children: Mark, Mike, and Michelle. The two boys, Mark and Mike, began learning the truck equipment business at a young age under the guidance of their father. Phil passed away in 2002 and left Koenig Body & Equipment, Inc. to Mark and Mike. Mike started Koenig Trucking and Excavating Company in Metamora, IL, while Mark took over the family business.

Mark took over the 3rd generation of Koenig Body & Equipment, Inc. In 2002, Mark took the Moline entity of Koenig Body & Equipment, Inc. and moved it to a larger shop in Rock Island, IL where it remained until it was completely sold about 5 years later. Koenig Body & Equipment, Inc. is now centralized in Peoria, IL.

Mark brought his two sons, Dustin and Jacob, into the business. They started working at young ages in the shop, and are now working in sales and whole goods for the family business.
